Edward M. Bury Biography

edward_bury_headshot_sml1Edward M. Bury, APR, came on board in July of 2013 to fill the newly-created position of Coordinator of Public Information.

Bury brings a diverse range of experience to the UTC. He most recently worked as Director of Marketing & Communications for BOMA/Chicago, an association representing the office building industry. His prior experience includes managing internal and external communications for CCIM Institute, a commercial affiliate of the National Association of Realtors®, account management positions with local Chicago public relations firms and five years in journalism, including a stint with the legendary City News Bureau of Chicago.

His duties at the UTC include: Developing and executing a comprehensive technology transfer communications strategic plan, writing and editing internal and external communications, managing the UTC web site, collaborating with other CUPPA research units and serving as liaison between the UTC and the UIC Public Affairs department. He is Committee Communications Coordinator and a member of the Technology Transfer Committee of the Transportation Research Board.

Bury earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Illinois State University, and he holds the Accredited in Public Relations (APR) credential. He’s a long-time member of the Public Relations Society of America, serves on the Board of Directors of the PRSA Chicago Chapter and he maintains the www.prdude.wordpress.com blog, a commentary on public relations and “other stuff.”
