Dr. Paul Metaxatos is the Associate Director for Research Programs and a Research Associate Professor at the Urban Transportation Center and a Faculty Associate, Center for Supply Chain Management and Logistics, at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC).
His research over the past 20-plus years has focused on transit planning, transportation and land use, intelligent transportation systems, transportation modeling, multi-modal transportation, and planning and economic development. He is the author or co-author of dozens of working papers, articles for industry and scholarly publications, reports, conference proceedings and presentations. As a consultant, Dr. Metaxatos has completed projects on behalf of the Bogota, Columbia Metro System, the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Illinois Department of Transportation and other transit agencies. He also has been the programmer or co-programmer for various transportation software development projects.
Dr. Metaxatos earned a doctorate degree in Public Policy Analysis, with a specialization in transportation planning, from UIC. He holds a Master’s degree in Urban Geography from UIC. And, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Rural and Surveying Engineering from the National Technical University in Athens, Greece.
